Secure Pairing Is Coming to Frontier X2 | 24 Sept 2026
We're introducing secure pairing for Frontier X2 in our next firmware update, rolling out after September 24, 2026. Once installed, your Frontier X2 will be locked to a single, trusted phone. Only that app will be able to control the device or access its full data.
Why we're making this change
Frontier X2 connects to your phone over Bluetooth. Until now, the device did not require a paired, authenticated connection before accepting commands. In theory, this meant a nearby phone could attempt to connect to a Frontier X2 without the owner's knowledge.
Secure pairing closes that gap. After you pair once, your Frontier X2 will accept commands and share full data only with the app it is bonded to.
What changes after the update
The update installs automatically, the same way previous firmware updates have. The first time you connect after it installs, you'll complete a one-time pairing:
Press the button on your Frontier X2 once to put it in pairing mode.
Open the Frontier X app and tap Connect.
A short code will appear on your device's screen. Enter it in the app when prompted and tap Pair.
That's it. Your device is now securely bonded to your app, and you won't need to repeat this for future connections.
Using Frontier X2 with other devices
You can continue to use Frontier X2 with compatible devices such as Garmin watches for heart-rate broadcasting. Device control and full data access, including your ECG recordings, remain limited to your paired Frontier X app.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to do anything right now?
No. The update will install automatically. You'll be prompted to pair the first time you connect after it installs.
How do I pair my Frontier X2 with a new phone?
Disconnect the device from the Frontier X app on your current phone, press the button once to enter pairing mode, then follow the pairing steps above on your new phone.
Will my existing data be affected?
No. Your recordings and history in the Frontier X app are not affected by this update.
Will my Garmin or other heart-rate connections still work?
Yes. Heart-rate broadcasting to compatible devices continues to work as before.
